Jason Reza Jorjani, PhD, is a philosopher and author of Prometheus and Atlas, World State of Emergency, Lovers of Sophia, Novel Folklore: The Blind Owl of Sadegh Hedayat, and Iranian Leviathan: A Monumental History of Mithra’s Abode.

Here he presents a narrative concerning the possible Scythian/Iranian origin of Buddhism. He points out that the appelation “Sakamuni” is a likely reference to Gautama’s Scythian origins. His bold hypothesis suggests that Gautama is one and the same with Lao Tzu, the ostensible founder of Taoism. Further Jorjani suggests that Gautama may have also been the magus, Gaumata, who briefly ruled the Achaemenid Persian empire. Fundamentally, he sees Buddhism as a refutation of Zoroastrian thought.

Lori Williams is author of Monitoring: A Guide for Remote Viewing and Professional Intuitive Teams and also Boundless: Your How-To Guide To Practical Remote Viewing. She is founder and president of Intuitive Specialists. She is very active as a trainer of remote viewers.

Bernardo Kastrup, PhD, is a computer scientist, who has recently completed a second doctoral degree in philosophy. He is author of Rationalist Spirituality, Why Materialism is Baloney, Dreamed Up Reality, Meaning in Absurdity, Brief Peeks Beyond, More Than Allegory, and The Idea of the World. He has published several papers in Scientific American arguing for metaphysical idealism.

Here he explains the difference between subjective and objective idealism — and also distinguishes idealism from dual-aspect monism. He describes the roles played by Berkeley, Kant, and Schopenhauer in the development of idealistic philosophy. While this viewpoint was once considered mainstream in philosophy, it is now out-of-favor. He argues that fads and fashions in philosophy are predicated more on social trends than on careful logic.

Debashish Banerji, PhD, is Haridas Chaudhuri Professor of Indian Philosophies and Cultures and Chairman of the East West Psychology Department at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. He is author of Seven Quartets of Becoming: A Transformative Yoga Psychology Based on the Diaries of Sri Aurobindo and also The Alternatate Nation of Abanindranath Tagore, a book about his great grandfather. He edited an anthology about his great uncle, Rabindranath Tagore in the Twenty-First Century. His newest anthology is titled Critical Posthumanism and Planetary Futures.

Here he discusses the different approaches toward the siddhis in Tantra and Vedanta. He argues for a balance between these; and notes that, in the yoga system of Aurobindo, balance itself is considered one of the siddhis. He describes the cultural impact of colonization and eventual liberation of India as it influenced and, conversely, was influenced by the long tradition of yoga. He points out the enormous, potential social utility of the siddhis — such as the ability to convert pain into pleasure.

Bruce Olav Solheim, PhD, is professor of history at Citrus College in Glendora, California. He also served as a Fulbright professor in 2003 at the University of Tromsø in northern Norway. He has just begun teaching a paranormal personal history course at Citrus College Fall 2018. He is author of five books on history and political science, one novel, three plays, and two books about his personal paranormal history, Timeless: A Paranormal Personal History and Timeless Deja Vu: A Paranormal Personal History.

Here he shares a number of personal stories involving telepathy. They include difficulties in romantic relationships as well as experiences working in a military prison. He also shares several experiences of ostensible telepathic communications with the deceased, an ability he has had since childhood. He expresses his belief that, given a certain level of spiritual protection, communication with the deceased is easier than with the living — as they no longer are trying to hide aspects of themselves.

Here he notes that, while Shri Aurobindo is the spiritual father of Auroville, it was actually founded years after his death by The Mother, Mira Alfassa — based on principles of “spiritual anarchy” enunciated in the teachings of Aurobindo. In Auroville, the focus is on karma yoga, self-sufficiency, harmony with nature, and a cosmopolitan, inclusive democracy.

He shares the sequence of events that led to his designs for vehicles that can capture and harvest asteroids and comets. However, a more immediate priority now exists with regard to planning for coming climate changes. He describes his intention to work more closely in the area of
climate mitigation.

James P. Driscoll, PhD, is one of the foremost critics of Renaissance literature from a Jungian perspective. He is author of Identity in Shakespearean Drama, The Unfolding God of Jung and Milton, and Shakespeare and Jung: The God in Time.

Here he distinguishes between three different philosophical styles: flux philosophies are oriented toward the future, stasis philosophies are oriented toward the past, and process philosophies focus on the present. Alfred North Whitehead, perhaps the greatest philosopher of the twentieth century, was a process philosopher. Time, as we experience it, is conditioned by archetypal processes. These processes entail civilizational godheads that are not entirely alien from actual god.

Gary Lachman is the author Jung The Mystic: Esoteric Dimensions of Carl Jung’s Life and Teachings as well as over twenty other books on topics ranging from the evolution of consciousness to literary suicides, popular culture and the history of the occult. Here he maintains that Carl Jung always had an interest in the esoteric and occult, going back to his childhood. His own mother would, occasionally give voice to an alternative personality, as did Jung, himself, as a child. As an adult, his break with his mentor, Sigmund Freud, precipitated an emotional crisis that led him to use a method of active imagination to explore hypnogogic realms. To find historical precedent for such explorations, he delved into gnosticism, alchemy, astrology, divination, and Eastern mysticism.

Loyd Auerbach, MS, received his masters’ degree in parapsychology from John F. Kennedy University. He is author of Mind Over Matter; ESP, Hauntings, and Poltergeists: A Parapsychologist’s Handbook; Reincarnation, Channeling, and Possession; Psychic Dreaming; A Paranormal Casebook; and Ghost Hunting: How to Investigate the Paranormal. Here he points out that disagreement still exists among researchers as to whether or not dreams are meaningful. Psychic dreams typically feel different than other dreams. Here she describes how, starting as a skeptic, she sought instruction in animal communication from a professional intuitive. Loyd Auerbach, MS, received his masters’ degree in parapsychology from John F. Kennedy University. Here she indicates that her approach to the dynamics between perpetrators and victims has been strongly influenced by the family constellation work of Bert Hellinger. She hold Nelson Mandela up, among others, as an example of someone who worked to break the cycle of victimization and revenge. She distinguishes between being victimized and holding “victim consciousness”.

Jonathan Beecher is the founder of White Crow Books. He is editor of the anthology, In Times of War: Messages of Wisdom from Soldiers in the Afterlife.

Here describes his own transformation that occurred in the year 2000 when he suffered from an accident while sleep walking. After six weeks of recovery, he found that he was a different person. A series of spiritualistic experiences led him to a quest for knowledge. He shows how his own experiences led him to accept the claims of Air Marshall Lord Dowding, commander of the Royal Air Force during WWII’s Battle of Britain. Sometimes this is deliberate as when terrorists choose anniversary dates of previous attacks. Mostly, it appears to be less than fully conscious. She suggests that this repetition of patterns can be understood in terms of fractal geometry. To illustrate her thesis she focuses on the massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado.

Hermeticism serves as the backbone of the western esoteric tradition that also includes astrology, tarot, alchemy, and ceremonial magick. Hermeticism was particularly influential during the Renaissance.

Joseph Burkes, MD, is a board certified specialist in internal medicine. Here he describes the results of a survey of individuals who believe themselves to have experienced contact with non-human intelligence associated with unidentified aerial phenomena. Over 3,000 people responded to an in-depth survey. About 70% reported that their experiences had a positive impact in their life. About 25% reported that they had strong, waking memories of having been taken aboard a craft of some sort.

Lisa Smartt, MA, is a linguist, educator, and poet. She founded The Final Words Project, an ongoing study devoted to collecting and interpreting the mysterious language at the end of lives. She is author of Words at the Threshold: What We Say When We’re Nearing Death.

Here she points out that much can be learned about the consciousness of dying individuals by paying attention to their language. One can develop an appreciation for speech that seems nonsensical by understanding that a dying person may be experiencing two different realities simultaneously. Similar patterns can often be found in individuals experiencing other altered states of awareness such as dementia or schizophrenia. Her work is largely predicated on Raymond Moody’s studies of near-death experience and the language of nonsense.

Dani Caputi is a doctoral candidate in atmospheric science at the University of California, Davis. She is conducting an experiment on psychokinetic influence of atmospheric turbulence.

Sally Rhine Feather, PhD, is on the board or directors of the Rhine Research Center. She is coauthor of The Gift: The Extraordinary Paranormal Experiences of Ordinary People.

Here she describes her life, growing up as the eldest daughter of Joseph Banks Rhine, widely regarded as the father of modern parapsychology. As a teenager, and also as an adult, she worked at the parapsychology lab at Duke University. Research at the time focused on personality and mood variables associated with ESP, psychokinesis, and precognition. The existence of psi was accepted by the researchers. Bernardo Kastrup, PhD, is a computer scientist. Stephan A. Schwartz is a Distinguished Consulting Faculty of Saybrook University. He is the columnist for the journal Explore, and editor of the daily web publication Schwartzreport.net in both of which he covers trends that are affecting the future. Here he describes how Christopher Columbus was forced to abandon two ships in St. Ann’s Bay, Jamaica, during his fourth voyage to the western hemisphere. He and his crew were marooned for over a year. For decades, nautical archeologists have been searching for these shipwrecks. Eventually, one archeologist sought the assistance of remote viewers from Schwartz’ Mobius Group. Stephan describes how he developed the Mobius consensus protocol and organized a project to locate the remnants of Columbus’ ships. The accuracy of the descriptors provided by the remote viewers was remarkably high.

He suggests that humanistic approaches, such as hermeneutics offer much promise in understanding the mystery of Strieber’s life.

Gary Lachman is the author of twenty-one books on topics ranging from the evolution of consciousness to literary suicides, popular culture and the history of the occult. William Van Gordon, PhD, is a Chartered Psychologist who lectures and conducts research in psychology at the University of Derby in the United Kingdom. He sits on the editorial board for various academic journals including Mindfulness and Mindfulness and Compassion.
He is also co-editor of two academic anthologies: Mindfulness and Buddhist-derived Approaches in Mental Health and Addiction, and The Buddhist Foundations of Mindfulness. William has over 100 academic publications relating to the scientific study of meditation. Prior to joining academia, William was a Buddhist monk for ten years.

Here he describes a multi-year research project involving advanced Buddhist meditators who were able to enter into a particular state of consciousness very much akin to the classical near-death experience. An entire year was spent selecting and recruiting meditators who were skilled in this practice. Three additional years were spent in follow-up observations. Detailed descriptions were collected of this unusual state of consciousness. Follow-up studies are planned.

Dean Radin, PhD, is chief scientist at the Institute of Noetic Science in Novato, California. He is author of The Conscious Universe, Entangled Minds, Supernormal, and Real Magic.

Here he reviews the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, especially with regard to the description of about 25 different “siddhis” or powers that are attained by advanced practitioners. Once one has achieved a measure of enlightenment, known as samadhi, one can begin the practice of samyama which then enables a variety of parapsychological skills. However, in yoga, these are generally considered to be distractions from the ultimate goal of spiritual enlightenment. Radin compares the claims of yoga with the findings of parapsychology.

Stephan A. Schwartz is a Distinguished Consulting Faculty of Saybrook University. He is the columnist for the journal Explore, and editor of the daily web publication Schwartzreport.net in both of which he covers trends that are affecting the future. His other academic and research appointments include: Senior Fellow for Brain, Mind and Healing of the Samueli Institute; founder and Research Director of the Mobius laboratory. Government appointments include Special Assistant for Research and Analysis to the Chief of Naval Operations. Schwartz was the principal researcher studying the use of Remote Viewing in archaeology. Using Remote Viewing he discovered Cleopatra’s Palace, Marc Antony’s Timonium, ruins of the Lighthouse of Pharos, and sunken ships along the California coast, and in the Bahamas. He is the author of more than 130 technical reports and papers. He has written The Secret Vaults of Time, The Alexandria Project, Mind Rover, Opening to the Infinite, and The 8 Laws of Change.

Here he describes a remote viewing experiment conducted in 2003, about six weeks prior to the capture of Saddam Hussein. A group of 47 remote viewers participating in a workshop at the Edgar Cayce Foundation endeavored to precognitively describe many details concerning the condition and situation of Saddam at the time of his capture. Many details were accurate in surprising ways, including the location and appearance of Saddam and the fact that, although he was armed, he did not resist capture.

Jeffrey J. Kripal is the J. Newton Rayzor Professor of Philosophy and Religious Thought and former chair of the Department of Religious Studies at Rice University in Houston, Texas. His books include Kali’s Child, Esalen, Authors of the Impossible, The Serpent’s Gift, Mutants and Mystics, The Super Natural (with Whitley Strieber), and Secret Body. He is coauthor, with Elizabeth Krohn, of Changed in a Flash: One Woman’s Near-Death Experience and Why a Scholar Thinks It Empowers Us All.

Here he explains the significance of Elizabeth Krohn’s near-death experience. He points out that simply reading or talking about such matters helps to create a “safe space” for others who may be having similar experiences. He notes that her experience, like most NDEs, was colored by her family and religious background. He also describes Eric Wargo’s concept of “time loops”, and suggests that this model allows for a wide variety of phenomena otherwise thought to be “paranormal”.

Elizabeth Krohn is coauthor, with professor Jeffrey Kripal, of Changed in a Flash: One Woman’s Near-Death Experience and Why a Scholar Thinks It Empowers Us All.

Here she describes how her life was changed dramatically in 1988 when she was struck by lightning. Prior to that time, she describes herself as a conventional Houston, TX, wife and mother of two young children. She had no interest whatsoever in the paranormal. Although she was unconscious only for a matter of minutes, for her it seemed as if she was in a heavenly garden for two weeks. Subsequently, she began experiencing precognitive dreams and other psi phenomena.

Roger D. Nelson, PhD, is the director of the Global Consciousness Project, an international, multi-laboratory collaboration founded in 1997 which aimed to study collective consciousness. From 1980 to 2002, he was Coordinator of Research at the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research laboratory at Princeton University. His website is

Here he describes, in detail, a variety of experimental protocols involving “true” random event generators (REGs). Early work involved having the experimental subjects (called “operators”) intentionally try to influences the REGs in one of two directions. Statistically significant deviations from chance were recorded. Later work involved “field REGs” in which small devices were brought to various locations at which the researchers anticipated some form of coherent group consciousness — such as a concert. This proved to be even more statistically significant. Eventually, the Global Consciousness Project was established. It collected continuous data from numerous REGs at different locations throughout the world. Over 500 different events were tested to see if deviations from chance expectation would occur. The overall results were highly significant.

Paul H. Smith, PhD, has served twice as president of the International Remote Viewing Association an organization of which he is a founder. A former Army intelligence officer, he served for seven years as part of the military’s top-secret remote viewing program. He is author of Reading the Enemy’s Mind and The Essential Guide to Remote Viewing. He currently serves as president and chief trainer for Remote Viewing Instructional Services. Here he describes the history of the use of the ideogram in remote viewing. The technique was developed by Ingo Swann and was based, in part, on the drawings of children. Subsequently some remote viewing trainers have expanded the technique in order to create something of a lexicon of ambience symbols. Smith discusses both the advantages and disadvantages of this revised approach.

Gary Lachman is the author of twenty-one books on topics ranging from the evolution of consciousness to literary suicides, popular culture and the history of the occult. He has written a rock and roll memoir of the 1970s, biographies of Aleister Crowley, Rudolf Steiner, C. G. Jung, Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, Emanuel Swedenborg, P. D. Here he shares his passion and personal interest in the life and work of Colin Wilson, who achieved worldwide fame at the age of 24 with the release of his first book, The Outsider. Callum Cooper, PhD, is a lecturer in psychology at the University of Northampton in the United Kingdom. He is author of Telephone Calls From the Dead. He reveals many of the details required for thorough investigation of these cases. He also discusses a variety of alternative explanations.
