Understanding Money with Darryl Robert Schoon

Darryl Robert Schoon is a financial analyst famous for having predicted the 2008 market crash. His website is www.drschoon.com. He is author of Light in a Dark Place: The Prison Years. He has also written a novel titled You Can’t Always Get What You Want. He is a minister with the Temple of Universality in Tucson, Arizona.

Here he explains the origin of paper money in China in the year 1024, and how it impacted Chinese politics. In the seventeenth century, paper money spread to England. Its use was instrumental in the expansion of the British empire. The discussion includes interest rates, business cycles, central banking, and warfare. Schoon emphasizes his belief that the economic downturns of 1990, 2000, and 2008 have been building up to an economic crisis of much larger proportions.

New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is a past vice-president of the Association for Humanistic Psychology; and is the recipient of the Pathfinder Award from that Association for his contributions to the field of human consciousness exploration.

Charles Richet: Nobel Laureate Psychic Researcher with Carlos Alvarado

Carlos S. Alvarado, PhD, is a Research Fellow at the Parapsychology Foundation, and Adjunct Research Faculty at Sofia University. He is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Near-Death Studies and the Journal of the Society for Psychical Research, and is the Book Review Editor of the Journal of Parapsychology, and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Scientific Exploration. Alvarado is also the recipient of the 2010 Parapsychological Association’s Outstanding Contribution Award, the Parapsychological Association 2017 Outstanding Career Award. He is author of the book, Charles Richet: A Nobel Prize Winning Scientist’s Explorations of Psychic Phenomena.

Here he describes the many talents of the great, French renaissance man, Charles Richet — a pioneer in aviation, medicine, and psychology who also wrote extensively in many other areas. Psychical research may have been Richet’s greatest passion, and the area of inquiry for which he is mostly remembered today. His explorations of the physical phenomena associated with mediumship were extensive. He also experimented with telepathic hypnotic induction. Although he participated in many seances, he was not a spiritualist.

Embodiment in Depth Psychology and Yoga Philosophy with Leanne Whitney

Leanne Whitney, PhD, is author of Consciousness in Jung and Patanjali. She is a transformational coach and also teaches yoga philosophy to yoga teachers. Her website is https://leannewhitney.com/.

Here she points out that the word used in the Yoga Sutras as the goal of yoga is kaivalya. While it is sometimes translated as enlightenment, it means resting in the self. She interprets this to mean a unity of body and mind. In Jungian depth psychology, body awareness is often pursued through the integration and understanding of dream imagery. Other forms of psychology, following the somatic therapies initiated by WIlhelm Reich, tend to work with the body more directly with techniques akin to massage. Yoga is also considered within the framework of somatic therapies.

Integral Resilience with Julian Gresser

Julian Gresser, MA, JD, has been an adviser to many companies and governments and has had an international law practice in Tokyo, Japan. He is also a practitioner of Zen Buddhism and qigong. He is the author of Environmental Law in Japan (1971), Partners in Prosperity: Strategic Industries for the U.S. and Japan (1985) Piloting Through Chaos (1995), Explorer’s Mind (2013), Laughing Heart: A Field Guide to Exuberant Vitality for All Ages (2017), and Integral Resilience (2019). He is currently chairman of Alliances for Discovery and Big Heart Technologies. His websites, relevant to this interview are https://resiliencemultiplier.com/5g-collaborative-dojo/ and https://resiliencemultiplier.com/meeting-the-5g-network-challenge-ringside-seat-podcast-series-4-a-new-paradigm-of-collaborative-learning-the-5g-dojo-with-julian-gresser/.

Here he points out that the topic of “resilience” is one that cuts across many disciplines from medicine to city planning. It can also be examined at the levels of cultures and civilizations. The discussion touches on the resilience of the Japanese, Chinese, Jews, and black Americans. He claims that resilience is a skill that can be taught at the individual and community level. One example of a simple technique to promote resilience is smiling — for which we know there are a variety of physiological benefits. At a large-scale level, he addresses issues associated with 5G wireless technology.

Spiritualism: An Insider’s View with Darryl Robert Schoon

Darryl Robert Schoon is a financial analyst famous for having predicted the 2008 market crash. His website is www.drschoon.com. He is author of Light in a Dark Place: The Prison Years. He has also written a novel titled You Can’t Always Get What You Want. He is a minister with the Temple of Universality in Tucson, Arizona.

Here he describes how he encountered the spiritualist medium, Hoyt Robinette, who produced physical materializations of drawings and also convincing spirit communications. Additionally, he was introduced to spiritualist healings mediated by Bruno Gröning, a German healer who died in 1959. As a result of these encounters, he and his wife became spiritualist ministers at the Temple of Universality in Tucson, Arizona.

Teilhard de Chardin: Scientist, Mystic, and Prophet with Peter B. Todd

Peter B. Todd, MAPS, a psychotherapist with a Jungian orientation, is author of The Individuation of God: Integrating Science and Religion. He experienced clinical death, during cardiac surgery, in 2005, and was subsequently revived. He was also a gold medalist at the 1982 Gay Games in San Francisco.

Here he notes that, throughout his career, Teilhard, a Jesuit paleontologist and theologian, suffered from restrictions and persecution by church authorities. He developed a lofty vision of biological evolution and the divinization of the world. He saw Jesus Christ as a cosmic figure acting as an attractor, pulling all sentient beings toward an Omega point of maximum complexity and consciousness. The American Episcopal Church holds a feast day in his honor.

The Feminine in Depth Psychology and Yoga Philosophy with Leanne Whitney

Leanne Whitney, PhD, is author of Consciousness in Jung and Patanjali. She is a transformational coach and also teaches yoga philosophy to yoga teachers. Her website is https://leannewhitney.com/.

Here she describes the feminine as a psychological and spiritual principle that is not necessarily correlated with gender. (She describes New Thinking Allowed as embodying the feminine principle.) She notes that mother is associated with matter and earth godesses. Masculinity is associated mythologically with spirit and with sky gods. In yoga philosophy the feminine is associated with prakriti, a sanskrit work denoting anything manifest. Perusha is associated with masculinity and denotes the unmanifest consciousness.

Advanced Psychic Healing Approaches with Joyce Whiteley Hawkes

Joyce Whiteley Hawkes, PhD, is a biophysicist and author of Cell-Level Healing: A Bridge From Soul to Cell as well as Resonance: Nine Practices for Harmonious Health and Vitality.

Here she points out that there are many individual differences when it comes to healing methods. Her approach is organic and does not rely upon a specific sequence of steps. One important key is listening carefully to one’s own inner guidance. Another is listening carefully to one’s client. Another advanced process is to work in groups. Some group participants (i.e., angels or guides) may not be in physical form.

The Paradoxes of Modern Physics with Ruth Kastner

Ruth Kastner, PhD, is a member of the Foundations of Physics group at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is author of The Transactional Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics: The Reality of Possibility, Understanding Our Unseen Reality: Solving Quantum Riddles, and Adventures in Quantumland: Exploring Our Unseen Reality.

Here she offers the metaphor of a carpet that is too large for the room in which it is placed. Nothing can be done to avoid a lump — except to make the room larger. Similarly, every interpretation of quantum physics seems to entail a different paradoxical result. She maintains that, by allowing for real physical events that are not in 4-D conventional spacetime, these paradoxes can be resolved.

Affirmations, New Thought, and Beyond with Darryl Robert Schoon

Darryl Robert Schoon is a financial analyst famous for having predicted the 2008 market crash. His website is www.drschoon.com. He is author of Light in a Dark Place: The Prison Years. He has also written a novel titled You Can’t Always Get What You Want. He is a minister with the Temple of Universality in Tucson, Arizona.

Here he shares his unusual journey, as a student of metaphysics, working with affirmations and processes for obtaining inner wisdom. Although he was able to achieve enormous financial success, ultimately he ended up in prison with a ten-year sentence for drug dealing. While in prison, he expanded his meditation practice, achieving a state of oneness, and began questioning the subconscious factors that were running his life in spite of his conscious intentions.

God, Science, and Dual-Aspect Monism with Peter B. Todd

Here he points out that, like metaphysical idealism, dual-aspect monism is a theory of mind that serves as an alternative to the mainstream view of metaphysical materialism. It postulates a neutral, primordial substance that is neither mind nor matter, but from which both originate. In the approach developed by Carl Jung and Wolfgang Pauli this original substance is known as “anima mundi” or the world soul. In the approach of physicist David Bohm, and his colleagues, it is referred to as the “implicate order”. Todd discusses the scientific, religious, and social implications of this theory of mind.

Approaches to Self-Healing with Joyce Whiteley Hawkes

Joyce Whiteley Hawkes, PhD, is a biophysicist and author of Cell-Level Healing: A Bridge From Soul to Cell as well as Resonance: Nine Practices for Harmonious Health and Vitality.

Here she remarks that sources of healing are always available to us if we allow ourselves to be receptive to them. She points out that this requires a measure of trust — as well as patience and persistence. There are many techniques that can assist with self-healing. These include meditation, visualization, and self-hypnosis. It is very helpful to be able to feel compassion toward oneself. The ultimate key is connection with the source of one’s being.

Free Will and Determinism with Ruth Kastner

Ruth Kastner, PhD, is a member of the Foundations of Physics group at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is author of The Transactional Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics: The Reality of Possibility, Understanding Our Unseen Reality: Solving Quantum Riddles, and Adventures in Quantumland: Exploring Our Unseen Reality.

Here she maintains that quantum indeterminacy is not quite the same as “randomness” and that it does allow for the possibility of free will, which is otherwise incompatible with a completely deterministic universe. Physics, however, has nothing to say about consciousness — a term that is not defined precisely in any physical theory. However, it is interesting to note that the “iceberg” metaphor used by Freud to describe the human subconscious can be equally applied to the ontological realm of possibility or “Quantumland” as defined in the Transactional Interpretation.

Mathematics and the Physical Universe with Edward R. Close

Edward R. Close, PhD, is author of Transcendental Physics. He is coauthor (with Vernon Neppe) of Reality Begins with Consciousness: A Paradigm Shift That Works. He is also author of a lengthy chapter titled “The Mathematical Unification of Time, Space, Matter, Energy, and Consciousness” in Is Consciousness Primary? edited by Gary Schwartz and Marjorie Woollacott.

Here he points out that most mathematicians regard regard the findings of mathematics to be ontologically real. Some would go further and say that the physical universe is fundamentally mathematical. Edward Close focuses on the fact that, because physical reality is quantized, mathematical equations that have integer solutions (known as Diophantine equations) are particularly important. He goes into detail regarding his application of Fermat’s Last Theorem toward the mathematical unification of the physical universe and consciousness.

Understanding Spinoza with Neal Grossman

Neal Grossman, PhD, is an emeritus associate professor of philosophy at the University of Illinois, Chicago. He is author of Conversations with Socrates and Plato: How a Post-Materialist Social Order Can Solve the Challenges of Modern Life and Insure Our Survival. He is also author of The Spirit of Spinoza: Healing the Mind.

Here he points out that the 17th century philosopher, Benedict Spinoza, was excommunicated from the Jewish community of Amsterdam. He did not believe that God was wholly separate from creation, but rather that the universe is created from God and is, therefore part of God. We are like cells in the body of God. Spinoza was a rationalist. The main thrust of his philosophy was to enable individuals to have the experience of unity with the divine. As such, he was one of philosophy’s greatest mystics.

Cellular Consciousness and Healing with Joyce Whiteley Hawkes

Joyce Whiteley Hawkes, PhD, is a biophysicist and author of Cell-Level Healing: A Bridge From Soul to Cell as well as Resonance: Nine Practices for Harmonious Health and Vitality.

Here she shares many details regarding the capabilities of the individual cells in our bodies. A 6-foot human has about 100 trillion individual cells. There are 200 different types of cells that all emerge from a single fertilized egg. These cells are in communication with each other and, without any conscious intervention on our part, coordinate smoothly. As a healer, Joyce is able to apply clairvoyant insight into the operation of cells.

The Transactional Interpretation of Quantum Theory with Ruth Kastner

Ruth Kastner, PhD, is a member of the Foundations of Physics group at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is author of The Transactional Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics: The Reality of Possibility, Understanding Our Unseen Reality: Solving Quantum Riddles, and Adventures in Quantumland: Exploring Our Unseen Reality.

Here she reviews the history of the transactional interpretation of quantum mechanics, originally developed by physicist John Cramer at the University of Washington. She, herself, was responsible for recent modifications to the theory — thus the “relativistic” nomenclature. The theory maintains that enormous action related to the actualization of quantum events takes place outside of the spacetime domain. While this interpretation is not dependent upon consciousness, it allows for the existence of consciousness and is consistent with metaphysical idealism.

He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “Parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, 1980).

Nonlocality with Edward R. Close

Here he describes how the concept of nonlocality has been used in theoretical physics. He notes that the term has also been borrowed by people in parapsychology and consciousness studies. Some physicists object to the use of the term to describe the phenomenology of consciousness. However, in many ways, the term is apt. He then relates the concept of nonlocality to the Triadic Dimensional Vortical Paradigm (TDVP) model that he has developed with Dr. Vernon Neppe.

A Post-Materialist Social Order with Neal Grossman

Neal Grossman, PhD, is an emeritus associate professor of philosophy at the University of Illinois, Chicago. He is author of Conversations with Socrates and Plato: How a Post-Materialist Social Order Can Solve the Challenges of Modern Life and Insure Our Survival. He is also author of The Spirit of Spinoza: Healing the Mind.

Here he describes what society could be, based upon the reports from those who have had near-death experiences. The most fundamental premise is that people would naturally be truthful with each other at all times. Lying and deception would not occur. It would be recognized that newborn infants are coming into the world with a life purpose, and child-raising would be based on the premise of helping them to understand and actualize that purpose.

Camille Flammarion: The Mystical Astronomer with Carlos Alvarado

Here he reflects on the life and accomplishments of Camille Flammarion, who was widely known as a popularizer of both astronomy and psychical research. He was closely associated with the spiritism of Allan Kardec. He was also involved in the investigation of many mediums, including the controversial Eusapia Paladino whom he accepted as genuine. He himself had mediumistic talents and engaged in automatic writing. He was also widely known for the “Flammarion Engraving” depicting a mystical vision.

Implications of the Near-Death Experience with Peter B. Todd

Here he describes the numinous qualities associated with his death experience in 2005. Prior to that experience, he had been at the deathbeds of hundreds of AIDS victims, both in the United States and Australia. At that time, he was already well-versed in the theories of both Carl G. Jung and Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. Therefore, he was already well-prepared for his own death experience. That profound experience awakened in him a desire to serve as an activist for a new theology for the third millennium that would integrate science and religion.

Research on the Buddhist Practice of Emptiness with William Van Gordon

William Van Gordon, PhD, is a Chartered Psychologist who lectures and conducts research in psychology at the University of Derby in the United Kingdom. He sits on the editorial board for various academic journals including Mindfulness and Mindfulness and Compassion.
He is also co-editor of two academic anthologies: Mindfulness and Buddhist-derived Approaches in Mental Health and Addiction, and The Buddhist Foundations of Mindfulness. William has over 100 academic publications relating to the scientific study of meditation. Prior to joining academia, William was a Buddhist monk for ten years.

Here he describes a multi-year research project involving advanced Buddhist meditators who were able to enter into a particular state of consciousness known as emptiness. This is something of a paradoxical state involving an investigation of the nature of the “self”. A year was spent selecting and recruiting meditators who were skilled in this practice. Detailed descriptions were collected of this unusual state of consciousness. A battery of psychometric tests revealed that “emptiness” produced more profound changes in these meditators than did “mindfulness”.

New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. The Constancy of the Speed of Light with Edward R. Close

Here he elaborates on several ostensible paradoxes associated with Einstein’s theories of relativity. The normal laws that we associate with space and time in our daily lives break down. Ironically, while people associate Einstein with relativity, he considered himself a determinist. Close proposes that paradoxes of space and time are resolved once we bring consciousness into the picture. His model includes 3 dimensions of space, 3 dimensions of time, and 3 dimensions of consciousness. He elaborates on his view of higher consciousness.

Esoteric Mysticism in Islamic Iran with Jason Reza Jorjani

Jason Reza Jorjani, PhD, is a philosopher and author of Prometheus and Atlas, World State of Emergency, Lovers of Sophia, Novel Folklore: The Blind Owl of Sadegh Hedayat, and Iranian Leviathan: A Monumental History of Mithra’s Abode.

Here he discusses the process by which the earlier Mazdakite movement evolved, via Sufi mysticism, into Iranian Shiism. In fact, Shah Ismail Safavi, founder of the first Shiite Iranian dynasty, was himself the leader of a Sufi order. Under Safavi rule, Iranian art and architecture excelled. The great poets — Rumi and Hafez — wrote eloquently about the religion of love that superceded all of the established religions. These esoteric turns, while challenging religious orthodoxy, also became incorporated into Shiism.

Psychedelics and Spirituality with Rick Strassman

Rick Strassman, MD, is an associate professor of psychiatry at the University of New Mexico. He is author of DMT: The Spirit Molecule — A Doctor’s Revolutionary Research Into the Biology of Near-Death and Mystical Experiences, Inner Paths to Outer Space: Journeys to Alien Worlds Through Psychedelics and Other Spiritual Technologies, and DMT and the Soul of Prophecy: a New Science of Spiritual Revelation in the Hebrew Bible. He has also authored a novel titled Joseph Levy Escapes Death.

Here he describes how he was an active Buddhist meditator for twenty years while he was also engaged in DMT research. Eventually he left Buddhist practice, and began a deep study of the Hebrew bible. Initially, he thought that the DMT “spirit molecule” might be responsible for spiritual experiences. In retrospect, he now believes that DMT serves as a placebo to amplify that which is already in the mind. He has developed the concept of “theoneurology” — suggesting that the divine acts upon human imagination that then inspires the rational intellect.

Ecological Awareness and the Paranormal with Jack Hunter

Jack Hunter, PhD, is currently a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Chester in the UK. He is author of Engaging the Anomalous, and is editor of a new anthology titled Greening the Paranormal: Exploring the Ecology of Extraordinary Experience. He is also coeditor, with David Luke, of Talking With The Spirits: Ethnographies From Between The Worlds. He is also founder of the journal, Paranthropology.

Here he proposes that ecology and parapsychology have much in common — and that the obstacles facing both fields are similar in many ways. He notes that many ecological activists report having had both paranormal and religious conversion types of experiences. He suggests that the complex relationships among non-human life forms uncovered in ecology provide a model for understanding the wide variety of paranormal phenomena. He also maintains that were are learning many surprising things about how plants communicate, suggesting a hidden intelligence and, perhaps, even consciousness.

The Strength and Reliability of Remote Viewing with Russell Targ

Russell Targ, a laser physicist, cofounded the remote viewing research program at SRI International. He is coauthor of Mind Reach, The Mind Race, Miracles of Mind, The Heart of the Mind, and The End of Suffering. He is author of Limitless Mind and The Reality of ESP: A Physicist’s Proof of Psychic Abilities. He is also coeditor of the anthology, Mind At Large.

Here he notes that a number of parapsychologists are unwilling to accept the existence of psi. Yet, in his own experience, remote viewing is very robust and productive. He suggests that the best researchers have had psi experiences of their own; and also have been engaged with esoteric traditions and spiritual practices. He explains how he was able to achieve remarkable results working with individuals who had no prior experience or understanding of remote viewing.

Becoming a Psychic Healing Facilitator with Joyce Whiteley Hawkes

Joyce Whiteley Hawkes, PhD, is a biophysicist and author of Cell-Level Healing: A Bridge From Soul to Cell as well as Resonance: Nine Practices for Harmonious Health and Vitality.

Here she describes her journey from a research scientist working with electron microscopy to a psychic healing facilitator. This transition began with a near-death experience in 1976. In 1984, an equally powerful experience occurred when she heard a voice telling her that she was called to be a healer. She quit her laboratory position the very next day. She also worked extensively with healers in the Philippines and Bali. In addition, she made a theological study of the world’s religions.

The Double Slit Delayed Choice Experiment with Edward R. Close

Here he describes the history of the double-slit experiments that confirmed the mysterious wave-particle duality of photons. This work began prior to the development of quantum physics. Later, physicist John Wheeler proposed the delayed-choice modification of this experiment that further confirmed the role of the conscious observer in the manifestation of observable reality. The mysteries of quantum physics are also highlighted in the EPR paradox as developed by Einstein, Podolsky and Rosen.

Theology for the Third Millennium with Peter B. Todd

Here he reviews the outlines of what he believes could become a new theology, open to both mystical experience and modern science. He builds upon the evolutionary, process theology of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. He also emphasizes the unification of particle physics and depth psychology — as revealed in the explorations of Carl G. Jung and Nobel laureate Wolfgang Pauli. Additionally he pays homage to the concept of the “implicate order” in the work of physicist David Bohm.

Healing Research and Practice with William Bengston

William Bengston currently serves as president of the Society for Scientific Exploration. He is author of The Energy Cure: Unravelling the Mystery of Hands-On Healing. He is a professor of sociology at St. Joseph’s College in New York.

Here he describes how he began his investigations as a young man who encountered a psychic healer who served as his mentor and friend. When his friend backed out of participation in a healing experiment with cancer-injected mice, Bengston stepped in unwillingly. To his astonishment, after several healing sessions, the mice were completely cured. This result has now been replicated numerous times. Bengston discusses his approach to healing research and his attitude toward healing.

InPresence 0163: Actual God (with Jeffrey Mishlove)

Here Jeffrey Mishlove builds upon the notion of “actual god” as distinct from the godhead images of any particular civilization. He suggests that there are several vectors pointing toward a new theology that would be integrated with science. These include new advances in rigorous idealist ontologies, parapsychology research, near-death studies, reincarnation research, and meditation research. He suggests that we are near the beginning of this new phase that could well take 600 years to reach fruition. He explores the notion that actual god might be simultaneously aware of the experience of every sentient being in the universe.

Altered States and Enhanced Functioning with Etzel Cardeña

Etzel Cardeña holds the endowed Thorsen Chair in psychology at Lund University in Sweden, where he directs the Center for Research on Consciousness and Anomalous Psychology (CERCAP). Among his books are Varieties of Anomalous Experience published by the American Psychological Association (APA) and now in its second edition, the two-volumes Altering Consciousness: A Multidisciplinary Perspective, and Parapsychology: A Handbook for the 21st Century, which provides a “state-of-the-art” account of the scientific evidence for parapsychology, as well as offering methodological and statistical know-how for beginner and advanced researchers. He is the editor of the Journal of Parapsychology.

Here he discusses the many ways in which altered states of consciousness are being used to enhance human performance. These altered states include hypnosis, meditation, and entheogens. He discusses the care researchers need to take in distinguishing between induction procedures and reported alterations of awareness. He provides examples in the arts, philosophy, athletics — and, particularly, parapsychology.

The Religions of Light and Love in Iran with Jason Reza Jorjani

Jason Reza Jorjani, PhD, is a philosopher and author of Prometheus and Atlas, World State of Emergency, Lovers of Sophia, Novel Folklore: The Blind Owl of Sadegh Hedayat, and Iranian Leviathan: A Monumental History of Mithra’s Abode.

Here he discusses the effects of orthodox Zoroastrianism, the state religion of the Sasanian Persian Dynasty, upon the Manichaean and Mazdakite gnostic traditions in Iran. Mani was a talented physician, artist, and religious figure who endeavored to construct a world religion combining Buddhism, Christianity, and Zoroastrianism. The Mazdakite tradition promoted both the abolishment of private property and of monogamous marriage. Both sects sects were initially supported and then suppressed violently by the state.

InPresence 0162: Prophecy Versus Precognition — Final Reflections on Peter Kingsley’s Catafalque

Here Jeffrey Mishlove shares his final reflections upon Peter Kingsley’s 2018 book, Catafalque: Carl Jung and the End of Humanity, focusing on the important distinction between prophecy and precognition as well as the distinction between imaginal and imaginary. He also addresses the close relationship between Carl Jung and the Sufi scholar and philosopher Henry Corbin. He notes that rational criteria fall short when endeavoring to evaluate the inner life of other individuals.

Remembering Alex Tanous with Archival Video and Loyd Auerbach

Loyd Auerbach, MS, received his masters’ degree in parapsychology from John F. Kennedy University. He is author of Mind Over Matter; ESP, Hauntings, and Poltergeists: A Parapsychologist’s Handbook; Reincarnation, Channeling, and Possession; Psychic Dreaming; A Paranormal Casebook; and Ghost Hunting: How to Investigate the Paranormal. He is co-author (with Ed May, Joseph McMoneagle, and Victor Rubel) of ESP Wars: East and West. He is the Director of the Office of Paranormal Investigations. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Rhine Research Center. He worked for two years, in the 1980s, with Alex Tanous at the American Society for Psychical Research (ASPR) in New York.

This special program begins with archival video of Alex Tanous as he prepares to participate in out-of-body research at the ASPR in 1983. There he describes the out-of-body state and also discusses his previous near-death experiences. In Part Two, Loyd Auerbach describes how his own abilities were awakened through his association with Alex Tanous. He describes a personal experience of bilocation.

Conversations with Ghosts with Callum Cooper

Callum Cooper, PhD, is a lecturer in psychology at the University of Northampton in the United Kingdom. He is author of Telephone Calls From the Dead. He is coeditor, with Steven Parsons, of Paracoustics: Sound and the Paranormal. And, he is coauthor (with Alex Tanous) of Conversations With Ghosts. His website is www.callumecooper.com.

Here he describes the remarkable career of Alex Tanous (1926 – 1990) who worked for twenty years as a research subject and an investigator with the American Society for Psychical Research. Tanous was extensively and successfully tested for his out-of-body abilities. He was also known for documented instances of bilocation. He was particularly interested in investigating apparition and poltergeist cases. He developed a therapeutic model for causing the disturbing psychokinetic symptoms of such cases to abate.

Otherness with Cate Montana

Cate Montana, MA, is author of Unearthing Venus: My Search for the Woman Within and is coauthor of The Heart of the Matter and Underground Physics. Her most recent book is The E-Word: Ego, Enlightenment and Other Essentials.

Here she addresses the fundamental distinction made by all humans between self and other. She notes that this distinction breaks down in mystical states in which the self or ego dissolve. She also points out that “otherness” in sociology is often associated with fear and, therefore, the need to control. The issue of otherness is pronounced with regard to matters of gender. She relates how this has affected her personally, growing up female in a male-dominated world.

New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. The Leviathan with Jason Reza Jorjani

Here he describes the first appearance of “the Leviathan” in the biblical Book of Job, where it is described as a terrifying agent of divine power. In the seventeenth century, Thomas Hobbes used the metaphor of the Leviathan in his classic text arguing for monarchy and the divine right of sovereigns. Ironically, Hobbes’ desire to relegate living religious miracles and revelation to the ancient past can be seen as, actually, undermining the classical notion unifying divine wisdom and divine kingship as seen, for example, in ancient Iran.

InPresence 0161: Jung’s Underworld Journey — Further Reflections Upon Peter Kingsley’s Catafalque

Here Jeffrey Mishlove continues his reflections upon Peter Kingsley’s 2018 book, Catafalque: Carl Jung and the End of Humanity, focusing on Kingsley’s mysterious reference to a “sacred contract, signed at the beginning of time, between the living and the dead.” The implications of this contract are enormous for those who journey into the underworld. Mishlove reflects upon how this “sacred contract” might intersect with the world of parapsychology.

Hypnosis and Psychic Functioning with Lori Williams

Lori Williams is author of Monitoring: A Guide for Remote Viewing and Professional Intuitive Teams and also Boundless: Your How-To Guide To Practical Remote Viewing. She is founder and president of Intuitive Specialists. She is very active as a trainer of remote viewers.

Here she points out that there is a very close relationship between hypnosis and psychic functioning. She describes various hypnotic instructions that can be applied to remote viewing tasks. She also notes that hypnotic instructions are implicit, although typically not explicit, in various remote viewing protocols. She also provides many examples from her own practice of the enormous power that hypnotic suggestions can have.

Salman the Persian and the Origin of Islam with Jason Reza Jorjani

Jason Reza Jorjani, PhD, is a philosopher and author of Prometheus and Atlas, World State of Emergency, Lovers of Sophia, Novel Folklore: The Blind Owl of Sadegh Hedayat, and Iranian Leviathan: A Monumental History of Mithra’s Abode.

Here he explains his hypotheses concerning the relationship between early Islam and the Parthian House of Karen in Iran. This occurred at a time when the Parthian dynasty had been overthrown by the Sassanids, who instituted a rigid form of Zoroastrian orthodoxy as the state religion. He speculates that the House of Karen hoped that a unified Arab nation might defeat the Sassanids and that they could return to power in Iran.

Experimental Evidence for Parapsychological Phenomena with Etzel Cardeña

Here he describes the reaction to his 2018 article in the American Psychologist summarizing the experimental evidence for parapsychology. He maintains that, although he has published more than 300 scientific papers, this was the most difficult. He was surprised that the journal agreed to publish it at all. The primary critical response is to claim that parapsychological phenomena are impossible and, therefore, the empirical evidence must be faulty.

Spiritual Anatomy with Desda Zuckerman

Desda Zuckerman is author of Your Sacred Anatomy: An Owner’s Guide to the Human Energy Structure. She is founder of the Sacred Anatomy Academy. Her website is https://yoursacredanatomy.com/.

Here she explains that her clairvoyant vision started in childhood and was greatly accelerated after an automobile accident when she was 14 years old. She describes many details of her explorations into the core of the human energy structure and its layers, pointing out that this information was gleaned after years of study and experimentation. She notes that, through the use of an exercise involving placing one’s awareness at the “edge” of the human energy structure, her students are able to achieve consistency and accuracy in their assessments.

InPresence 0160: Carl Jung and the End of Humanity — Reflections on Peter Kingsley’s Catafalque

This is the first new episode in Jeffrey Mishlove’s “InPresence” series of monologs for nearly a year. Here he reflects upon Peter Kingsley’s 2018 book, Catafalque: Carl Jung and the End of Humanity. Kingsley emphasizes the mystical side of Jung’s work, exploring layers of thought, history, and meaning as Jung plunged into the world of the unconscious psyche. Mishlove illustrates many points with stories from his own life.

Iranian Zionism with Jason Reza Jorjani

Jason Reza Jorjani, PhD, is a philosopher and author of Prometheus and Atlas, World State of Emergency, Lovers of Sophia, Novel Folklore: The Blind Owl of Sadegh Hedayat, and Iranian Leviathan: A Monumental History of Mithra’s Abode.

Here he maintains that the Persian emperors of the Achaemenid dynasty organized and paid for the building of the second temple in Jerusalem. He envisions this as part of a long-term project of the ancient Iranians to use religion as a tool in their quest for a global empire. He notes that the codification of the Jewish scriptures took place under the auspices of Ezra with support from the Iranian regime. He also observes that changes in the Jewish religion under Ezra differed in various ways from ancient Israelite religion. He also points to the Book of Esther as exemplifying a close relationship between the Jews and Persians of the Achaemenid era.

Channeling Research, Theory, and Practice with Helané Wahbeh

Helané Wahbeh, ND, MCR is director of research at the Institute of Noetic Sciences in Petaluma, California and an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Wahbeh is clinically trained as a naturopathic physician and research trained with a Master of Clinical Research and two post-doctoral research fellowships.

Here she describes how, as a child, she was exposed to the channeling practiced by her grandmother and uncle. She explains that she defines channeling very broadly to include a wide range of experiences from intuition, to ESP, to trance mediumship. She notes that the Institute of Noetic Sciences is engaged in a program of channeling research that includes both physiological and psychological studies. One of their findings is that channelers, almost universally, report that the experience has been positive for themselves. Another finding is that over 80% of the population have had an experience that fits the broad definition of channeling.

Mithraism with Jason Reza Jorjani

Jason Reza Jorjani, PhD, is a philosopher and author of Prometheus and Atlas, World State of Emergency, Lovers of Sophia, Novel Folklore: The Blind Owl of Sadegh Hedayat, and Iranian Leviathan: A Monumental History of Mithra’s Abode.

Here he describes the complex relationship between Mithraism and Zoroastrianism. Over time, each of these traditions have incorporated the other, while also standing opposed to key principles in the other. The god, Mithra, is typically symbolized slaying a bull — and is considered to embody a consciousness beyond the restrictions of time and fate. At one time, Mithraism was the dominant religion of the Roman army. Jorjani speculates that Constantine made Christianity the Roman state religion as a response to the threat he saw posed by Mithraism.
