For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.

Here he notes that many previous segments of the InPresence series have dealt with healing. So viewers now have access to both instructions and research data. He describes his own practice of using time, while awake in bed, to direct healing thoughts. He details various states of consciousness associated with his healing practice. He also discusses the “brown thumb” effect, when people attempt healing while feeling negative about themselves.

Young also authored several books including The Reflexive Universe, The Geometry of Meaning, The Bell Notes, and Nested Time: An Astrological Autobiography. His thought process was all-encompassing as he endeavored to discover the underlying elements of process for all sciences and human activities. Above all, Young encouraged those he knew to be responsible for giving birth to the best aspects of themselves.

Here he describes how he came to write his first book, The Roots of Consciousness. The book is an overview of the field of consciousness studies and parapsychology and was originally intended to show to his doctoral committee at U.C., Berkeley, that he had the prerequisite knowledge to write a parapsychological dissertation. The book also contained important ideas concerning the possible role of Bell’s Theorem in understanding psychic functioning. At the end of the video is a hot link to a free, online version of the 2nd edition of the book.

John Brandenburg, PhD, is a plasma physicist. He is author of Death on Mars, Beyond Einstein’s Unified Field, Life and Death on Mars, Dead Mars Dying Earth, Morningstar Pass, and The GEM Unification Theory. Here he describes his concerns about nuclear war as he worked in U.S. government weapons laboratories. Eventually he became captivated by the possibility that the “face on Mars” indicated intelligent life elsewhere in our solar system. Further research led him to conclude that the presence of certain isotopes on Mars were evidence of an ancient nuclear war. The discussion concludes with his forays into science fiction writing and his explorations of a government UFO coverup.

Carlos S. Alvarado, PhD, is a Research Fellow at the Parapsychology Foundation, and Adjunct Research Faculty at Sofia University. He is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Near-Death Studies and the Journal of the Society for Psychical Research, and is the Book Review Editor of the Journal of Parapsychology, and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Scientific Exploration. Alvarado is also the recipient of the 2010 Parapsychological Association’s Outstanding Contribution Award, the Parapsychological Association 2017 Outstanding Career Award. He is author of the book, Charles Richet: A Nobel Prize Winning Scientist’s Explorations of Psychic Phenomena.

Here he describes the various investigations conducted with one of the most colorful and fascinating characters in the history of psychical research. Although it was widely acknowledged that Eusapia Palladino sometimes employed fraudulent methods to produce ostensible paranormal effects, he argues that a careful study of the literature provides convincing evidence that many of the phenomena she produced were genuine. These included materializations and table levitations. Seances with her inspired many different theoretical and experimental approaches.

Andy Hilton is author of Anthropology and Mysticism in the Making of Initiation. He is also coeditor of the anthology, Perspectives on Commoning.

Here he describes the idea of “commoning” as derived from the commons associated with medieval villages. Typically, this was a square in the center where the residents would graze their sheep. It has evolved into a grassroots movement related to the sharing of property — both physical and intellectual. The conversation focuses on the political implications of commoning and the idea that, individually and as a human community, we contain within ourselves a diversity of political perspectives.

James Tunney, LLM, is an Irish Barrister who has lectured on legal matters throughout the world. Here he proposes that one need not lose one’s sovereign autonomy to a guru or spiritual leader in order to pursue an authentic mystical path. Jason Reza Jorjani, PhD, is a philosopher and author of Prometheus and Atlas, World State of Emergency, Lovers of Sophia, Novel Folklore: The Blind Owl of Sadegh Hedayat, and Iranian Leviathan: A Monumental History of Mithra’s Abode.

Here he explores the hypothesis that many UFO sightings can be attributed to a non-governmental, human organization. He proposes that this organization developed extraordinary technology in the late nineteenth century, that it was associated with German nationalists, and that it received financial support from Americans. After WWII, he speculates that this network incorporated newer technologies that had been developed by the Nazi regime. He compares this network to the Spectre organization in Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels.

Peter B. Todd, MAPS, a psychotherapist with a Jungian orientation, is author of The Individuation of God: Integrating Science and Religion. He experienced clinical death, during cardiac surgery, in 2005, and was subsequently revived. He was also a gold medalist at the 1982 Gay Games in San Francisco.

Here he lists a number of anthropogenic threats to human survival on this planet, particularly nuclear war and global warming. He describes the situation in his home city of Sydney, Australia, concerning fires that have already cost the lives of half a billion animals and are enveloping the city in smoke. He argues that these problems can only be addressed by a resacralization of the world and a global process of individuation. We must be willing to confront the shadow side of humanity.

Kiran Kumar Salagame, PhD, is former chairman of the psychology department at the University of Mysore, India. He is also vice-president of the International Transpersonal Association. He is author of The Psychology of Meditation: A Contextual Approach.

Here he describes his research to investigate whether meditators experienced detrimental effects from their practice. He found that the meditators he studied showed unique, positive characteristics very different from a population of schizophrenics with whom they were compared. He distinguishes between the use of meditation to remove anxiety, depression and illness and its traditional, original purpose of self-realization. He discusses the yoga system of chakras.

James Tunney, LLM, is an Irish Barrister who has lectured on legal matters throughout the world. When the climate changed, he believes that these people migrated east and north and helped to create the culture of ancient Egypt.

Here he points out that hylozoism is a worldview that postulates the entire universe is, in some sense, alive. He contrasts it with terms hylostochastic and hylostatic — that the universe is probabilistic or that it is deterministic. He suggests that this worldview enables one to formulate scientific questions — related, for example, to parapsychology — that are considered unacceptable by many scientists.

Here he describes how Indian thought is a fusion of many influences — primarily Vedantist, Buddhist, and Jain. However, going back to ancient times, there were always materialists in the mix. Additionally, there is the influence of the prehistoric Indus Valley culture — whose language has yet to be deciphered fully. There is also a tension between the spiritual ascetics who withdrew from worldly activities and those spiritual practitioners who wished to have an impact in the material world. Above all, Indian thought is focused on processes of transcendence.

Here he describes mysticism as a quest for understanding the meaning of life and the nature of the true self. He agrees with the Perennial Philosophy tradition that the core of mysticism is, essentially, the same in all cultures. He maintains that all mystics understand that they are spiritual beings and that this awareness unites people of all cultures. He sees scientism as a cultural force that is antagonistic to mysticism.

Thomas Brophy, PhD, is president of the California Institute of Human Science. He also serves as president of the Society for Consciousness Studies. He is author of The Mechanism Demands a Mysticism: An Exploration of Spirit, Matter and Physics as well as The Origin Map: Discovery of a Prehistoric, Megalithic, Astrophysical Map and Sculpture of the Universe. Kiran Kumar Salagame, PhD, is former chairman of the psychology department at the University of Mysore, India. He is also vice-president of the International Transpersonal Association. He is author of The Psychology of Meditation: A Contextual Approach.

Here he shares his reflections on India’s great spiritual classic, the Bhagavat Gita. He explains that the text goes into detail regarding the transcendental aspects of mind and how it differs from conventional psychological operations. Here he discusses the significant, yet somewhat forgotten, influence of the late Milton Erickson upon the field of psychotherapy. Erickson had a unique gift of finding ways to profoundly influence positive change in his clients within a brief time period. Paul Leslie illustrates this intuitive process with several stories. Erickson’s methods were such that, sometimes, his colleagues wondered if he was going a bit crazy. Nevertheless, it has been possible to systematize his approach to some extent. Today there is a school of Ericksonian therapy.

She points out that the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali can be read from either a dualist or non-dualist point of view. From the non-dualist point of view, everything is brahman or consciousness. Enlightenment, therefore, is not something to be achieved. It is already everywhere. We play hide-and-go-seek with ourselves.

Philip A. Goff, PhD, is professor of philosophy at Durham University in the United Kingdom. He is author of Galileo’s Error: Foundations for a New Science of Consciousness and also Consciousness and Fundamental Reality.

Here he describes the philosophical approach of addressing the many problems associated with consciousness through logical analysis. He maintains that strict materialism logically implies that consciousness does not exist. While many criticize dualism for failing to define how mind and matter can interact, he maintains that this is not necessarily a fatal flaw. He suggests that panpsychism, the view that the essence of the physical world is mental, avoids many of these problems.

Carlos S. Alvarado, PhD, is a Research Fellow at the Parapsychology Foundation, and Adjunct Research Faculty at Sofia University. He is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Near-Death Studies and the Journal of the Society for Psychical Research, and is the Book Review Editor of the Journal of Parapsychology, and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Scientific Exploration. Here he shares his interest and passion for the work of the Italian scholar, Ernesto Bozzano, who was a foremost proponent of the spirit survival hypothesis. He touches on many of Bozzano’s interests including bilocation, transcendental music, hauntings, telekinesis, mediumship, apparitions, and deathbed phenomena. Here he reflects on why the profession of psychotherapy is diminishing while increasingly more people are seeking help from psychics, mediums, and healing practitioners. Research evidence shows that psychotherapy does work — including a variety of short-term approaches. The most talented therapists, however, do not necessarily follow any particular school or doctrine. Instead, they are focused on the particular needs of their client — and, typically, they learn to rely upon their intuition. He argues that therapists must think of themselves as healers rather than clinicians.

Darryl Robert Schoon is a financial analyst famous for having predicted the 2008 market crash. His website is www.drschoon.com. He is author of Light in a Dark Place: The Prison Years. He has also written a novel titled You Can’t Always Get What You Want. He is a minister with the Temple of Universality in Tucson, Arizona.

Here he employs Plato’s allegory of the cave as pointing toward the idea that we are all the prisoners of our own misperceptions. Going a step further, he invokes Carlos Castaneda’s Teachings of Don Juan Matus to suggest that something akin to a parasitic infection prevents humans from functioning in a full, open-hearted manner. This is a vision held in common by many in the shamanic and gnostic communities. He ascribes many conspiracy theories to what he calls “ego dissociative syndrome” (EDS) and points out many of the hazards of accepting conspiracy beliefs. He also describes a number of conspiracy theories about which he suggests he has personal information.

New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is a past vice-president of the Association for Humanistic Psychology; and is the recipient of the Pathfinder Award from that Association for his contributions to the field of human consciousness exploration.

Miranda Alcott, MA, is an intuitive, animal communicator. She has been a certified Crisis Responder and instructor/trainer for the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA), as well as a member of NOVA’s Response Team. She earned her masters degree in spiritual psychology from the University of Santa Monica. She studied with renowned “animal ambassador,” Linda Tellington-Jones, and is a Certified TTOUCH Practitioner for Companion Animals. She is also author of a chapter titled “Listening to Water” in the book, The Healing Power of Water, edited by Masaru Emoto.

Here she focuses on many aspects of her work as a professional intuitive consultant. She addresses the issue of determining what other people really mean when they are speaking, and what they really need to hear or learn. She speaks to the dilemma of getting in touch with one’s inner voice in a world where love is often submerged by war and strife. She notes the importance of taking care of oneself in the face of dangers, both natural and domestic.

Mary Baxter, PhD, is an intuitive consultant. She is author of Life Journeys of 21st Century Spiritual Healers and also Getting Started With Your Pendulum. Her website is https://theinnerknowing.com/.

Here she describes how she first learned about the akashic records when she sought a spiritual clearing at a time in her life when she was faced with multiple frightening problems. As a result of the positive outcome from that experience she began to study the technique of accessing the akashic field. This involved the use of the pendulum as well as working with spiritual guides. She describes many nuances and details associated with this work.
