Black African Contributions to Ancient Egyptian Culture with CIHS Emeritus President Thomas Brophy

Thomas Brophy, PhD, is president emeritus of the California Institute for Human Science. He also serves as president of the Society for Consciousness Studies. He is author of The Mechanism Demands a Mysticism: An Exploration of Spirit, Matter and Physics as well as The Origin Map: Discovery of a Prehistoric, Megalithic, Astrophysical Map and Sculpture of the Universe. He has also coauthored, two books with Robert Bauval titled Black Genesis: The Prehistoric Origins of Ancient Egypt and Imhotep the African: Architect of the Cosmos.

In this video from 2020, he describes his research in portions of the Sahara desert that are rarely explored where he encountered prehistoric, megalithic structures of astronomical significance, as well as rock paintings and inscriptions. He explains how these artifacts were created by the black population at a time when the area produced rains and had many animals. When the climate changed, he believes that these people migrated east and north and helped to create the culture of ancient Egypt.

Maurice Nicoll: The Psychology of Gurdjieff and Ouspensky’s Fourth Way with Gary Lachman

Gary Lachman is the author of over twenty books about the history of esotericism and its influence on politics and society. He has written biographies of Carl Jung, Aleister Crowley, Rudolf Steiner, Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, Emanuel Swedenborg, P. D. Ouspensky, and Colin Wilson. His newest book is Maurice Nicoll: The Forgotten Teacher of the Fourth Way.

Here he weaves a fascinating tapistry involving the ferment in the early twentieth century, including the emergence of depth psychology and a burgeoning esoteric culture including theosophy, anthroposophy, ritual magick, and – particularly – the Fourth Way movement of Gurdjieff and Ouspensky. Maurice Nicoll was in the center of this world.

An Open-Ended Conversation with Edwin C. May

Edwin C. May, PhD, was involved in the military intelligence psychic spying program, popularly referred to as Stargate, for over twenty years. During the last decade, he was the director of research for that program. In this context, he produced over a hundred scientific publications. His academic training was in experimental nuclear physics. He is coauthor of ESP Wars: East and West. Reiki Healing with CIHS President Jeffery Martin

Jeffery Martin, PhD, is a social scientist who researches personal transformation. He is a Reiki master and is the author of The Complete Guide to Reiki. Jeffery is currently the president of the California Institute for Human Science. Portions of his research on power of thought and non-symbolic consciousness are also available in the popular fiction book series, The Fourth Awakening.

In this video from 2017, he describes how his mother’s illness prompted him, at a young age, to seek training as a spiritual healer. Reiki is a tradition that originated in Japan and is generally attributed to Takao Usui, although there are antecedents. It entails channeling a spiritual energy source, rather than willfully endeavoring to direct some form of healing process. He describes how he was able to use Reiki to successfully heal broken bones. However, he notes that healers seem to have individual specialties. He also notes that research studies have, overall, failed to find a significant effect following Reiki treatment – even though this is not consistent with his own personal experience.

Charles Upton’s first books of poetry were published in 1968 and 1969 by Lawrence Ferlinghetti of City Light Books in San Francisco. He was then considered the youngest member of the “beat generation” as he was still in high school. He has subsequently written many books associated with the traditionalist school of spirituality including The Science of the Greater Jihad, Folk Metaphysics, Alien Disclosure Deception: The Metaphysics of Social Engineering, Day and Night on the Sufi Path, Dugin Against Dugin: A Traditionalist Critique of the Fourth Political Theory, System of the Antichrist and Vectors of the Counter-Initiation. Here he explains that, in traditionalist thought, Armageddon refers to the ultimate war for the human soul against the forces that would destroy our integrity. Angels are fierce warriors in this battle.

CLASSIC REBOOT: The Spiritualist Vision of the Afterlife with Stafford Betty

Stafford Betty, PhD, is a philosopher and professor of religious studies at California State University, Bakersfield. He is author of Vadiraja’s Refutation of Shankara’s Non-Dualism, The Imprisoned Splendor, The Afterlife Unveiled, and Heaven and Hell Unveiled.

In this video, originally recorded in 2015, he points out that the spiritualist vision of the afterlife has been generated over the past 150 years because of the testimony of ostensible spirits speaking through trance mediums. This literature has been extensively scrutinized by scientists and, in the best instances, is often accompanied by information that offers evidence of either an afterlife or extrasensory perception. Professor Betty describes many common threads that can be found throughout this literature that offer a vivid description of a realm of human existence beyond the physical life on earth. He refers to the stages of spiritual evolution that may occur in the afterlife.
