Jeffrey Mishlove describes a series of events, going back to the 1970s and into the present day, in which unusual events involving hawks appear to evoke the archetypal god Horus. These events are associated with UFO sightings, psychic powers, healing, and ominous warnings. The events include descriptions by Andrija Puharich of his interactions with the Israeli psychic, Uri Geller. Also implicated is the prominent psychic, Ray Stanford, twin brother of the parapsychologist, Rex Stanford. These events are probably best understood in the context of Jeffrey’s concept of “archetypal synchronistic resonance.”

Dr. Paul J. Leslie, EdD, is a psychotherapist, researcher, trainer, and author. He is the coordinator of the psychology program at Aiken Technical College in South Carolina. Paul shares that the norm may be that most people, including mental health practitioners, have psychic and paranormal experiences. However, people often don’t share their experiences for fear of being thought of as crazy or diagnosed with a mental health disorder. He differentiates between what may be a psychic experience or a pathology. If the experience is comforting or helpful, it is usually not a pathology. If the experience is distressing or negatively impacts their life, it may need closer attention and care. Being believed about their experience can, in and of itself, be healing. Not being believed can have detrimental effects. He encourages mental health practitioners to be aware of their biases and judgments that impact their clients’ health and well-being. Mental health practitioners want more education and training about these experiences to be better equipped to help their clients. All people are worthy of love, dignity, and respect.

Daniel C. Matt, PhD, is a professor at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA. He is best known for establishing the Pritzker translation of the book of Zohar and translating the first nine volumes of the twelve volume series. He is also author of God and the Big Bang, The Essential Kabbalah, Zohar: The Book of Enlightenment, and most recently Becoming Elijah: The Prophet of Transformation. Here he describes the transformation of Elijah from a religious zealot who slays 450 prophets of the Caananite god Baal to a mystical angelic figure who brings enlightenment and connects humanity with the divine. He points out the influence of Elijah’s story upon Christianity and Islam. He addresses the enormous influence of Elijah upon the Kabbalistic writers. He also describes the false messiah, Shabbetai Tsvi, and draws lessons from this sad historic episode.

Translation into other languages is of interest, but will require teams working together under the watchful eye of a project manager. Samuel Chong is a certified court interpreter and a Chinese translator. He was instrumental in arranging for the Chinese publication of Michel Desmarquet’s book, Thiaoouba Prophecy, which has been a best-seller.

Here he describes his original life-changing encounter with Desmarquet’s book, prompting him to make the journey twice to Vietnam in order to meet Desmarquet. This resulted in a close working relationship that eventually led to the Chinese publication. Desmarquet describes how he was abducted by very kind and attractive, 8-foot tall, hermaphroditic, humanoid aliens and taken to their advanced planet. The general (albeit not specific) features of Desmarquet’s story, factually true or not, are consistent with many similar accounts by other supposed UFO contactees. Jeffrey Mishlove’s introduction emphasizes this case as exemplary for exploring the boundary between the imaginary and the imaginal.

Stephan A. Schwartz is a Distinguished Consulting Faculty of Saybrook University. He is the columnist for the journal Explore, and editor of the daily web publication Schwartzreport.net in both of which he covers trends that are affecting the future. His other academic and research appointments include: Senior Fellow for Brain, Mind and Healing of the Samueli Institute; founder and Research Director of the Mobius laboratory. Government appointments include Special Assistant for Research and Analysis to the Chief of Naval Operations. Schwartz was the principal researcher studying the use of Remote Viewing in archaeology. Using Remote Viewing he discovered Cleopatra’s Palace, Marc Antony’s Timonium, ruins of the Lighthouse of Pharos, and sunken ships along the California coast, and in the Bahamas. He is the author of more than 130 technical reports and papers. He has written The Secret Vaults of Time, The Alexandria Project, Mind Rover, Opening to the Infinite, and The 8 Laws of Change.

Here he reviews his earlier project, starting in 1978, of asking remote viewers to describe life in the year 2050. Recently he initiated a new project to look at the year 2060, so that it could be compared to his 2050 results. He describes his careful use of consensus methodology in remote viewing. Furthermore, he is now able to take advantage of several analytical tools involving “big data” that were not available for the earlier research. Preliminary results suggest that, by 2060, society will have adjusted to an enormous transformating occuring between 2040 and 2045.

Here he maintains that he is interested in understanding UFO phenomena, not in “proving” that they are anything in particular. The key to understanding is to observe the reactions of people, both before and after their encounters. If they were simply extraterrestrial hardware, it is unlikely they would have such life-changing impacts upon people. Something else is going on which requires an understanding of human psychology. Also, the connections between UFO phenomenology and afterlife encounters cannot be ignored.
