A. Hameed Ali is founder of the Ridwan School and the Diamond Approach to self-realization. He is author, under the pen name of A. H. Almaas, of about twenty books integrating spiritual consciousness with contemporary psychology. These include Love Unveiled: Discovering the Essence of the Awakened Heart, Runaway Realization: A Life of Ceaseless Discovery, and Facets of Unity: The Enneagram of Holy Ideas. His most recent book is Keys to the Enneagram: How to Unlock the Highest Potential of Every Personality Type.
Here he describes the historical evolution of the Enneagram beginning with G. I. Gurdjieff and Oscar Ichazo. He describes the ancient Sarmoung Brotherhood as portrayed by Gurdjieff. He notes that his own work is related primarily to spiritual awakening. The Enneagram shows a particular path toward wholeness that can be discovered within each of the nine, unique character types. He also describes some unusual spiritual openings, from his own experience, that are accessible to particular character types.
New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). He is also the Grand Prize winner of the 2021 Bigelow Institute essay competition regarding the best evidence for survival of human consciousness after permanent bodily death.
