Kenneth R. Pelletier, MD, PhD, Clinical Professor of Medicine, is author of Longevity, Mind As Healer – Mind As Slayer, Toward a Science of Consciousness, Sound Mind – Sound Body, The Best Alternative Medicine, Healthy People in Unhealthy Places, and Change Your Genes – Change Your Life.

This conversation focuses on an out-of-body experience in 1967 that involved a state of cosmic consciousness as well as “future memory”. Essentially, it set the pattern for Ken’s subsequent career as a pioneer of mind-body medicine and integrative health. The experience was so powerful that Ken felt disoriented for weeks afterward; and he has been hesitant to discuss it publicly until now.

Eben Alexander and Karen Newell are coauthors of Living in a Mindful Universe. Eben is also author of Proof of Heaven and The Map of Heaven. Karen is also the cofounder of a company called Sacred Acoustics. Her website is sacredacoustics.com. Here they review scientific developments relating to the concept of “objective idealism” and “top-down causality” – the idea that the universe is not dead matter, but is mindlike at its very essence. They share how one can experience this directly through meditation and other spiritual practices. One can even attain states of consciousness akin to the near-death experience. Most profoundly expressed was their appreciation for love.

Stafford Betty, PhD, is professor of religious studies at California State University at Bakersfield. He is author of Heaven and Hell Unveiled, The Afterlife Unveiled, and When Did You Ever Become Less by Dying? He has also written two novels, based on his studies of spiritualism, whose protagonists are deceased figures in the afterlife, The Imprisoned Splendor and The Afterlife Therapist.

Here he describes various aspects of his understanding of the afterlife, as portrayed in his novel, The Afterlife Therapist. Some of the recently deceased do not realize that they have died. Many conflicts exist on the astral planes. These are seen as opportunities for soul growth. Reincarnation is also an option. Guides and teachers encourage souls to progress to higher planes of existence.
